Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

This is the first time Avon Walk will take place in Malaysia. The charity walk, aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection and treatment of the disease, is part of a global effort by Avon to mobilise people all around the world to focus on breast cancer education and raise funds for the cause.

Whether you live in Kuala Lumpur, there’s a walk coming your way. The walk, to take place at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa on Aug 10, is open to the public. Participation is at a minimum RM20 and participants will receive a Reebok T-shirt worth RM90 and an Avon goodie bag worth RM50. All proceeds will be channelled to the PRIDE Foundation (Pink Ribbon Deeds), a charity body that aims to enhance awareness and improve accessibility to treatments and care of breast cancer at all levels of society.

I guess the idea of losing their breasts scares a lot of women. Not an easy proposition for any woman to face. Naturally it could make them feel incomplete. It's rather difficult when someone you love has cancer, not only breast cancer. It changes the whole environment of the family. We must all be well informed to survive this.

How men choose their wives?

Choosing a wife

A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.
The first does a total makeover. She goes to a fancy beauty salon, gets her hair done, new makeup; buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.

The man was impressed.

The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.

Again, the man is impressed.

The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5,000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.

Obviously, the man was impressed.

The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.

Then........
he married the one with the biggest boobs.
Men are like that, you know.

MALAYSIA MEGA SALE CARNIVAL 2008

July 5th to Sept 1st 2008

This is the moment that everyone has been waiting for. The Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival commenced 5 days ago and there are tempting items on sale with big discounts. But it is still not too late to get your bargains. The local and foreign bargain hunters are flocking to shopping malls in thousands. This is a good opportunity for laying hands on some good bargains, whether it is house/home wares, furnishing, fashion or travel.!.

When it comes to grocery shopping, I prefer going to the stores alone. It's not that I'm not enjoying my children's company. Without my kids, I can get in and out of the stores faster, not having to answer a million and one questions about everything. I can focus on what I'm buying, look for better deals as well as enjoying the elevator music they play. I'm still trying to make it a point to make one big trip every weekend and get enough to get us through the week. The more times you go to the store, the more chances for impulse buys, more chances to waste money. Saves on petrol too. :)

On the other hand, I wonder whether this year's carnival will receive a good feedback since most people are now very prudent when it comes to spending as cash in hand is crucial now. The cost of living is skyrocketing almost daily. In the midst of such economy downturn, people are now taking advantage of low, ridiculously low prices. Sigh!!! If only petrol has similiar mega sales, mega discounts.....I think all motorists will be jamming every nook and corner of the petrol stations.

The best deal is spend wisely and keep your eyes peeled for value items. Happy Shopping!

Football Betting Addiction

Online football betting has become increasingly popular in recent years, becoming punters' favourite gambling. Even though the matches are shown at midnight to the wee hours of the morning here, the Euro 2008 fever is burning high among Asians. Soccer fans and enthusiasts who are in different time zone will stay overnight to catch a match and some even negleted their jobs.

Many online sites offer free tips on football, including Premiership, FA Cup and international matches, including Euro 2008 online betting. Such sites claim various levels of long-term profit.

These days, more and more people are tempted to place a bet on a football game. Why? Well, for starters: its fun and really gets you involved in the game in a different way than just being a spectator. When your team wins, you really win and get excited. Sometimes you can win big if you bet right. However, there are always victory and defeat in every game.

Not everyone wins when they place a sports bet. Infact a lot of people wind up losing lots of money. This is not something where you have a guarantee of winning every time. It truly pays to pay attention and be prepared for the worst, as it can make the difference between you going home with a pocket of cash and going home without any cash at all. Worst still, you may end up in messy consequences. My view towards gambling: avoid football betting by all means as emotions will rule you, affecting your lifestyle and even kill you.

How To Keep your eyes Healthy?

It is quite common for people to take for granted the things that they have, thinking that nothing can take such things away from them. Have you ever thought that anything in the world can disappear in just a blink of an eye? Nowadays, people are more concerned about losing weight, plumping their lips, breasts enhancement, or filling their butts rather than thinking of ways to care for their precious eyes.

A growing number of people aged 50 and over suffers from AMD (Age macular degeneration) or cataracts. These failures, related to eyes, are usually from a prolonged lack of carotenoid and other antioxidant. According to a research aimed at preventing eye diseases, it has indicated that people who have ample antioxidants in their blood have reduced risk of developing AMD and cataracts.

One of the effective ways to prevent future serious eye diseases is by adding foods that are rich in vitamins A, E and C to boost your eyes’ health. Foods that are rich in Vitamin A, which is a source of eye-building nutrient beta-carotene, include carrots, squash, apricot, deep orange produce, cod liver oil, and green leafy vegetables such as spinach. Vitamin C-rich foods include citrus fruits, raspberries, Brussels sprouts, mango, broccoli, strawberries and cauliflower. Meanwhile, good sources of Vitamin E are eggs, peanuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds.

Having a good diet and taking supplements won’t help much if you compromise your eye health by spending too much time in the sun or smoking. Of course, nothing beats a well-balanced diet, but you might want to consider taking supplements to help ensure you’re giving your eyes all the nutrition they need.

Lipstick Increases Breast Cancer Risk

There you have it ladies, too much of anything is always bad. It is sometimes terrifying when you look at it, how the very things we often take for granted can be later proven to be harmful. A study has shown that a chemical found in lipstick and nail varnish could trigger breast cancer. Butyl benzyl phthalate(BBP) is most likely to be used in the cosmetics industry to make products glossy.

In 2007, an environmentalist group, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics did a survey on lipsticks. They tested 33 different types of lipsticks for lead and found out they indeed contain lead. Lead is a chemical which causes cancer....

Many lipstick makers don't provide you with the list of ingredients that they use- but many renowned brands, including Vaseline, use toxic, drying ingredients in their lipsticks. In a lifetime, the average woman absorbs 2lb of lipstick! However, there are many safe lipsticks out there, so find out what you're applying.

I’m one of those women who apply a lip stick almost daily and obviously I'm not alone. The good news is that I don't put nail polish but now I am a bit hesitant when I buy lipsticks as I am concern about what it entails. It could be your worst health enemy.

The World of Blogosphere

With the numerous blogs that hit well in the 6 digit mark or more, I often wonder what makes a small few, like me stand out from the crowd, and outshine on the blogosphere. Gee, only god knows! It goes without saying that many bloggers dream of starting a blog that will become as successful as some of the most popular blogs online today.

I don’t blog for a living. I find it rather difficult and time consuming to make money from blogging. Then again, I don't expect to make a fortune overnight. However, no matter how superb your content is, if there is nobody to read it, you can't generate profit from it. I don’t reckon myself as an entertainer, and most of what I post on my blog isn’t entertaining in any straightforward sense, so I doubt that many people come here for this reason. But I might be wrong. Different people have different preferences. There are some topics that suit among many other people as well.

I have a full time job, and I only blog in my spare time about my thoughts, interesting events, current issues, vice versa. I will usually brag about something that I'm familiar with. I guess there are also people for whom blogging has turned into an obsession instead of being a harmless hobby.

At times I wonder, what would you do if Blogging all of a sudden comes to an end?? Say all the blog hosting sites shut down and we could blog no more?

Let's get rid of the cellulite, LADIES!

I'm thankful that I'm one of those lucky people who don't have to watch my weight. Infact, I find it difficult to put on weight even after childbirth. Although I enjoy good food, I manage to keep those extra kgs at bay because of my high metabolic rate.

I know after three kids and the fact that I am getting older (sobbing), I have a little problem with cellulite in the tummy area. Most women get cellulite around their thighs, upper arms, buttocks and tummy. Incase you don't know, cellulite is a kind of accumulated fat tissues located beneath the human skin.

All about fats

Cellulite exists on every woman, normally getting worse as we age. But thanks to Trudtox tea and organic green tea, my belly fat has reduced. Yup, drinking tea, may not completely remove cellulite but it certainly does help.

Nutrition is equally important. Consume lots of fruits and vegetables. But be realistic, okay? Losing weight, burning fat and avoiding the build up of cellulite is a process that doesn’t happen over night. Different people, different results.

I still take regular portions of meals every now and then, but I'm still drinking tea every few days to maintain general well-being . I'm not personally obsessed over appearance (ahem!) but liked to look good.

Oh and by the way, cellulite doesn't just come from not eating right or not exercising. When I was in my best shape, I still had a little cellulite.

What I gotta do now is maintain my fitness and strive hard to keep that ugly cellulite away.

World No Tobacco Day 2008

World No Tobacco Day is observed around the world every year on May 31st. I've always reacted badly to smoke of any kind. Any form of smoke is bad for you, no matter how little you take in.

If you love your children, then support this campaign. Break the tobacco marketing net. It's never too late to quit smoking. The power is in your hands.

Why Married Men Stray?

The question is not about my relationship but I’ve seen many cases on how men stray upon seeing another woman.

When a man strays, the blame often falls on the wife for not keeping her husband satisfied. Men can be easily succumb to temptation and seduction when they are home away from home. How true is it? Of course, I'm not saying all men are likely to cheat. While lust plays a part, as does boredom, I suppose the obvious reason is they are not getting attention at home. Do women stray almost as much as men? I’m not in the habit of judging people, as I always believe that you cannot completely understand them unless you are in the same situation as they are. Anyway,I still think that a real man will know the difference between the pretty face and the real faithful.

As they say, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I'm not exactly a star in the kitchen. Although I'm not a great cook by any measure I know my husband will still live if he had to eat my own cooking. As long as he knows how to eat, that's all that matters. My husband has not cheated as far as I know and we still have that spark between us.

And I love this quote:One night stands are different from affairs. One night stands are typically mistakes. Affairs are more deeply rooted. And someone wrote " the time that is spent hiding the affair and the thought involved with making up lies could easily be spent investing in the relationship they are in to make it better"

So what really makes men stray? Bad sex? Nagging wife? Prettier woman with a better body? An escape from loneliness? Not getting attention? What's really on their minds?

Going Organic

I’m sure all of you are aware of the recent rising food costs issue. All food products cost a lot more than they have in the past. Organic food is no exception.

I'm usually conscious about my food intake. Infact, I try to buy as many organic products as I can afford and feel that my family and I benefit from this. A few years ago when I started consuming organic milk and other supplements, I gained a lot of energy, and felt really good, and I maintained that until recently. I feel that my skin has improved tremendously too. In a way, I should practise looking my best at all times because I want to still look good even when I'm 50.

I've to confess that it's not entirely easy (or cheap) to go totally organic, but I have made the switch with some items we eat frequently. Although I might not be able to fully control the food I eat at restaurants at times, I tend to stay away from fast food as much as possible.

If you wish to purchase organic products, there are two main definitions that you should look out:

100% Organic: Made with 100% organic ingredients
Made With Organic Ingredients: Made with a minimum of 70% organic ingredients with strict restrictions on the remaining 30%, including no GMOs (genetically modified organisms)

These days, more and more people are choosing to eliminate processed foods from their diets. In Malaysia, organic food has gained more popularity in the last decade. Organic stores are booming especially in cities. However, some people think that the health benefits of organic foods are overrated.

Do online relationships really work?

It can be rather difficult to find that true love everyone is looking for, and even more in today’s hectic society. Especially for busy professionals, online dating is a short cut and very convenient service. These days, the internet can be a very handy tool in meeting that special someone. You see advertisements all over the place. However, online dating is very different than dating someone that you meet in the “real” world.

Why do most online relationships fail? Perhaps, they were never meant to be lifetime relationships. You may end up in messy consequences.

A friend of mine recently moved to a foreign country. She had visited there several times, and had met a man along the way…and initially, they started an online relationship which eventually led to becoming engaged. When she moved down there…they began to date in real life. Unfortunately, after several dates, she realized that he was not her dreamlover, so it seems. Soon after, they went separate ways. My friend said that she should not hang on to something that has no hope.

I guess it’s not easy for you to find the kind of guy you’re really looking for. I believe tons of other women might encountered this exact same problem of dating all the "wrongmen."

Online relationships are usually tricky because love is always sweeter and more passionate from afar. You'll never know until you see your date's true colours in person. I've seen this happen before.

So…do online relationships last long? Do people get married eventually? I've heard that other women have met their boyfriends or husbands online but to me nothing beats the 'real world'. It's easier to determine the personality of someone. Perhaps, it all depends on your timing and luck in online relationships. Well, I’m sure it is, for some. But that just couldn’t be the situation in all cases…

Hair dyes found to increase cancer risk

A woman's hair, as they say is her crowning glory. Hair–coloring is somehow popular these days. Obviously a person with colored hair looks more trendy and fashionable. Choosing the right color is another big decision.

There are a growing number of people who has turned to hair dyes. As for me, I have no intention on colouring my hair at the moment. Reason being it can eventually lead to hair thinning and loss of hair. Hair dyes can be harsh on the hair, leaving it damaged and brittle. Besides, I'm quite comfortable with my natural hair colour. After all, my hair colour outshines during broad daylight.

If you want to color your hair but have concerns about the safety of commercial hair dyes there are alternatives. There are tons of homemade hair dye recipes to be found on the Internet. Henna is also an option that shouldn't be harmful to your hair.

According to scientists, use of artificial hair dyes increases the risk of bladder cancer, lymphoma, and leukaemia not only for those who colour their hair but also hairdressers in close and regular proximity to the chemicals. This is a stern reminder to everyone who frequently use commercial hair dyes.

Shop till you drop

Jalan Bukit Bintang entrance

What's a guaranteed way to make any woman cheerful? Of course, spending time with loved ones and good friends is always the top list, but what's the another way to put up your big smile? The answer is shopping.

Kuala Lumpur's rapid development in recent years leaves me gasping for air. Developers are jamming every nook and corner of the city with buildings. The latest buzz in town is the new shopping malls that have opened up, one after another. The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur with its huge retail space is definitely worth checking out. For those who wants the best of the best, pretty much all the fashion labels can be found at every turn and a host of other lifestyle offerings. The working mother should have no problem finding a fresh start to dressing up for the office. It's indeed a shopper's dream come true.

If you are looking to unwind, there are many leisure outlets such as GSC Cinemas, True Fitness, Redbox Plus or Times the Bookshop. Otherwise settle into the dining outlets featuring cuisines from the world over. For further information, please click at

Happy shopping!

Thumbs up for Detox Tea

Last week, I started on a detox programme. The detoxification that I experienced while consuming TruDtox was simply beneficial. Infact, I couldn't feel much effect on the 1st day. The 2nd day was the most difficult day to go through. I had frequent bowel movement and urination. One thing led to another, I was feeling sleepy most of the time. Luckily it was a weekend so I had plenty of rest and some naps in between. After the 3rd day, my body became lighter and most importantly, my waistline flatter. The bloatedness has gone with the wind. The sensation was superb bcoz I could wear better fitting clothes.

It took me 4 Trudtox sessions to see an amazing difference. I was really impressed with the results. This product is worth recommending.
Instructions on taking Trudtox tea:
  • One teabag a day or as and when needed.
  • Brew teabag in a cup of hot, boiling water for 15-20 minutes before serving.
