Beating Traffic Lights

With many years on the road of Malaysia, the worse ever are motorcycle riders. I hate inconsiderate motorcyclists. I’ve met such reckless bikers on the road , so I try my best to be careful and stay away from them…Yesterday on the way home from office, I stumbled upon this idiotic motorcyclist who beat the red lights. I know such news are neither new nor uncommon. Infact, I've seen this happened countless times.

At times, it's pretty frustrating to watch them squeeze through you at traffic lights, sometimes scraping your car, hitting your side mirrors without even bothering to stop. Those bunch of idiotic bikers beat those red lights as if they own the roads. I just couldn't care less if they kill themselves but they endanger the other innocents around them too, that's what I despise the most.

I thought to myself perhaps many of these frequent traffic offenders do not even have valid road taxes and number plates on their vehicles. For all you know, they could even be criminals. Having said that, they really have no regards for law and order and not to mention, without mercy.

I always require seatbelts for my passengers. And even if you are the most careful driver on the planet, there are really some idiot drivers who couldn't care less otherwise. They will ride their bikes at full speed and zig zagging in and out of traffic!

So is this a new trend or just the attitude of Malaysian bikers? Oh well, we shall see in a couple of years time. I believe everyone has their own encounter. A word of caution: Beware of those lunatics who do not give a damn about other people lives.

How men choose their wives?

Choosing a wife

A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.
The first does a total makeover. She goes to a fancy beauty salon, gets her hair done, new makeup; buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.

The man was impressed.

The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.

Again, the man is impressed.

The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5,000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.

Obviously, the man was impressed.

The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.

Then........
he married the one with the biggest boobs.
Men are like that, you know.

MALAYSIA MEGA SALE CARNIVAL 2008

July 5th to Sept 1st 2008

This is the moment that everyone has been waiting for. The Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival commenced 5 days ago and there are tempting items on sale with big discounts. But it is still not too late to get your bargains. The local and foreign bargain hunters are flocking to shopping malls in thousands. This is a good opportunity for laying hands on some good bargains, whether it is house/home wares, furnishing, fashion or travel.!.

When it comes to grocery shopping, I prefer going to the stores alone. It's not that I'm not enjoying my children's company. Without my kids, I can get in and out of the stores faster, not having to answer a million and one questions about everything. I can focus on what I'm buying, look for better deals as well as enjoying the elevator music they play. I'm still trying to make it a point to make one big trip every weekend and get enough to get us through the week. The more times you go to the store, the more chances for impulse buys, more chances to waste money. Saves on petrol too. :)

On the other hand, I wonder whether this year's carnival will receive a good feedback since most people are now very prudent when it comes to spending as cash in hand is crucial now. The cost of living is skyrocketing almost daily. In the midst of such economy downturn, people are now taking advantage of low, ridiculously low prices. Sigh!!! If only petrol has similiar mega sales, mega discounts.....I think all motorists will be jamming every nook and corner of the petrol stations.

The best deal is spend wisely and keep your eyes peeled for value items. Happy Shopping!

George Town, Malacca has achieved the World Heritage Site Status

George Town and Bandar Melaka are now UNESCO's World Heritage Site. This is simply awesome! Something for Malaysians to be proud of...... Now that George Town and Malacca are listed as World Heritage Sites, the citizens can look forward to seeing more tourists. With the listing, the two cities join other World Heritage Sites in Malaysia that include the Mulu Caves and Kinabalu National Park.

As a Penangite, I’m proud of this new status of my city. Penang has plenty of good things to offer. It is also well known for being the "food paradise of Malaysia." Nevertheless, there are still plenty of work to be done. The inner city needs renewal badly to bring Penang to a greater shine for foreigners. I hope there are enough local experts to lend their expertise. George Town has been recognised for its largest concentration of pre-World War II buildings in South East Asia and multi-ethnic living heritage. There is a large potential market for heritage and cultural tourism.

It’s time for us, or particularly to the government, to have a comprehensive plan on how to fully utilize this competitive advantage to benefit the people. Otherwise, Unesco will strip George town off the heritage city status. Meanwhile, the state would hold a three day celebration from July 25th to celebrate George Town's success in getting the heritage site listing.

Mariah Carey's marriage on the rocks?

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's marriage is reportedly on the rocks. Oh, I am so not surprised of the news, are you? Mariah Carey has been accused of controlling new husband Nick Cannon. The US pop diva’s marriage is under strain already because of her “diva-ish ways”, it has been claimed. Now that we know it’s real, we are just counting the days until it’s over.

Watermelon Is Nature's Viagra

Water melons may have the solution for those men who fail to rise to the occasion in the bedroom, with scientists discovering that a slice of watermelon has effects similar to the impotence drug Viagra. Very interesting indeed, who needs Viagra if you have a watermelon? Well guys, better stock up on your watermelon if you want to increase libido and continue to satisfy your woman well into your old age.

I expect to see a mad rush coming on watermelons and perhaps a world wide watermelon shortage. Besides, I have a feeling that watermelon sales would see a boost across globe after this revelation. I'm afraid this is NOT a piece of good news for the Viagra company. Their profits may sink and watermelons could soon force Viagra out of the market.

On a healthy note.....take more watermelons ya !! ...It’s a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side effects, not just for the better sex, of course. :)

In the meantime, here's wishing Happy 4th July to U.S.A.

Red dragon fruit

The fruit is call red dragon fruit or red pitaya because the skin looks like the scales of a dragon.

Dragon fruit has distinctive red orange leaves that look like flames. It is a great healthy fruit to eat, not to mention its nutritional benefits are numerous. Dragon fruits are rich in fiber and minerals, notably phosphorus and calcium.

The dragon fruit, also known as a strawberry pear is actually the fruit of a cactus. It originated in South America, but is now cultivated widely across both Americas, Australia and is Vietnam's biggest export. Its presence in Malaysia is a rather recent event. However now this unique fruit is popularly grown throughout the country.

I was actually frightened to eat the maroon type when I first saw it. But I love it now. Really sweet and juicy. I remembered vividly the first time I saw this a couple years back, I was utterly confused at how I was supposed to attack this odd animal of a fruit. I have never tasted one before so didn't have a clue what to expect. Peeling it was impossible, as the skin was spongy and extremely thick. Biting straight into it definitely wasn't an option.

Ultimately, I took a knife and cut the fruit into half. The skin just peeled easily from the side.
You can scoop it with a spoon or cut the fruit into small bite pieces. The numerous small, black seeds are edible and crunchy, so don't bother spitting it out. It’s a lot sweeter than a kiwi though.

this is what it looks like when you cut it in half

It's a great way to combat constipation too. I eat dragon fruits very often here. They are quite costly though.

It is delicious, you should try one, its full of natural-goodness. I like the crunchiness when I bit on the sesame-like black coloured seeds.

the juicy pulp is maroon with countless small edible seeds

eBay $ued over faked goods

eBay, the world's online auctioneer has been ordered to pay a solid 40 million Euro / $63 million for not being able to stop auctions selling counterfeit goods. The lawsuit against eBay was brought on by the LVMH(Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey) group, which includes big names like Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Christian Dior, and it saw the website accused of not doing its best to keep people from selling fake designer bags and perfumes. Tiffany & Company in the United States has also sued eBay, but the case is pending.

THANK GOODNESS.. I never buy goods on ebay cause of the fact.. of people being able to sell fake goods. It's not fair.. how some people get screwed. eBay can be a nasty place for the unwary and I don't think it's going to get any better. If it is true that 90% of the Louis Vuitton bags and Dior perfumes on eBay are fakes, shutting down the trade in these items on eBay may be reasonable. Perhaps this is the price eBay has to pay for not taking any real precautions. Let’s hope that eBay learned a lesson from this and will take bigger steps to prevent fakes being sold on the site.

Critics and trademark holders are looking more for a way to guarantee authenticity and possibly including series and/or serial numbers of the items for sale.

Whoa!! Ladies check your bags and now that I’m thinking about it, men check your wallets too…

Get Set for Euro 2008 Finale: Germany vs Spain

Who will win The Cup?

Well the finals are set for the Euro Cup 2008. This is the moment that we've been waiting for. The great football season is now drawing to a close & football fans all over the globe are already wondering if they will be able to adjust to life without football.

Come to think of it, I will miss those super bunch of sizzling HOT/AWESOME players! Oouch! Those rippling arms and sexaay bodies......OMGosh!!! I'm going crazy thinking about it. This is the main reason why I'm watching football. My entire world won't come crashing down if I have a lousy day at the office. Yes, indeed it is.

Aside from this, I wouldn't be clueless going into work the next day where everyone was talking about the tournament. Ha ha! I guess it must be that darn Euro spirit in the air. No matter what you do or where you go, football is the main topic of conversation. It's about the atmosphere, the ambience, the excitement, the suspense, the tension, the thrills, the spills and the tears of the game.

I'm curious how crazy things are going to get this Sunday with the finals! Some wives got raged, because they lost their husband at least during the season. Are the girls glad it’s over so they can get their husbands/boyfriends back? I'm sure they are.

The winner of Euro 2008 will qualify for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa.

Which team will emerge the winner? I just couldn't care less who wins for now. Both spectacular teams are winners to me. It will be one hell of an interesting match.

Football Betting Addiction

Online football betting has become increasingly popular in recent years, becoming punters' favourite gambling. Even though the matches are shown at midnight to the wee hours of the morning here, the Euro 2008 fever is burning high among Asians. Soccer fans and enthusiasts who are in different time zone will stay overnight to catch a match and some even negleted their jobs.

Many online sites offer free tips on football, including Premiership, FA Cup and international matches, including Euro 2008 online betting. Such sites claim various levels of long-term profit.

These days, more and more people are tempted to place a bet on a football game. Why? Well, for starters: its fun and really gets you involved in the game in a different way than just being a spectator. When your team wins, you really win and get excited. Sometimes you can win big if you bet right. However, there are always victory and defeat in every game.

Not everyone wins when they place a sports bet. Infact a lot of people wind up losing lots of money. This is not something where you have a guarantee of winning every time. It truly pays to pay attention and be prepared for the worst, as it can make the difference between you going home with a pocket of cash and going home without any cash at all. Worst still, you may end up in messy consequences. My view towards gambling: avoid football betting by all means as emotions will rule you, affecting your lifestyle and even kill you.

Lipsticks and High Heels:Encourage Rapes?

The directive issued by the municipal council of Kota Baru, Kelantan forbids Muslim women from putting on thick make-up, like bright colored lipstick. They can’t also move around in high-heeled shoes that gave a tapping sound, news agency Bernama said. This piece of crap revolves around women frenzy again. Obviously, this statement has made Malaysia a world news item , not to mention a laughing stock.

No wonder Kelantan is still going backwards. Most of the smart and progressive Kelantanese have fled to KL or elsewhere, avoiding these bunch of crazy PUS nerds (not PAS) imposing idiotic rules. Their reason for this ridiculous implementation? To prevent rape and soliciting, so it seems.

These guidelines aren’t about protecting women in anyway. They are about limiting their behaviour. I don’t understand the mindset that thinks that women changing their appearance or their dressing will have any effect on whether they are raped or not. It’s another ridiculous attempt to blame it all on the women. I’m not very sure how Kelantanese women will react to this new law implementation.

Please stop degrading women as merely sex objects for men to commit rapes and also please stop highlighting women being attractive leads to rape. All women, regardless of age, appearance, dressing decently, get rape too.

It’s rather difficult to consider PAS seriously as a political party..because it seems that they are more concern about inmoral activities and sex-related issues, nothing else on their minds.

So, what's next, PUS? Don't be surprise to hear more shocks in future!

Thumbs uP for Kungfu Panda

I hadn’t seen many animated flicks as of late and I would say, simply a remarkable motion picture that is likeable, entertaining, and humourous. It was interesting, though, to hear the voices of well chosen cast of actors like Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Jack Black, Jackie Chan and Lucy Liu.

Noodle-shop boy Po (Jack Black) is one of the biggest fans of the Furious Five, Kung Fu masters and defenders of the Valley of Peace. When the vengful Tai Lung (Ian McShane) escapes his inescapable prison, it is up to the founding master of Kung Fu (Randall Duk Kim), to choose one of the Five to become the Dragon Warrior and defeat Tai Lung. Unfortunately, he picks Po instead. It's up to Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), master of the Furious Five, to train the flabby panda in time to save the Valley from Tai Lung's wrath.

Probably the most impressive part of the film were the action scenes. With all the different forms of kung fu, it is hard not to enjoy this film. The plot is straightforward, which makes it very easy to understand even for kids.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Jack Black. But I think he is the funniest character by far, so if you enjoy his kind of humour you will probably like this movie a lot. If you don’t you will probably hate the movie. The other characters add substance to the movie with very well choreographed fight scenes, each with unique abilities.

For what it's worth, my kids really liked the movie. My kids just kept their eyes on screen for the whole time. Never in my life have I seen my kids laughed so hard at an animated movie.

The message is about believing in yourself, the underlying theme of the movie. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed it, and I’d recommend it to anyone of all ages. You won't be dissapointed.

How To Keep your eyes Healthy?

It is quite common for people to take for granted the things that they have, thinking that nothing can take such things away from them. Have you ever thought that anything in the world can disappear in just a blink of an eye? Nowadays, people are more concerned about losing weight, plumping their lips, breasts enhancement, or filling their butts rather than thinking of ways to care for their precious eyes.

A growing number of people aged 50 and over suffers from AMD (Age macular degeneration) or cataracts. These failures, related to eyes, are usually from a prolonged lack of carotenoid and other antioxidant. According to a research aimed at preventing eye diseases, it has indicated that people who have ample antioxidants in their blood have reduced risk of developing AMD and cataracts.

One of the effective ways to prevent future serious eye diseases is by adding foods that are rich in vitamins A, E and C to boost your eyes’ health. Foods that are rich in Vitamin A, which is a source of eye-building nutrient beta-carotene, include carrots, squash, apricot, deep orange produce, cod liver oil, and green leafy vegetables such as spinach. Vitamin C-rich foods include citrus fruits, raspberries, Brussels sprouts, mango, broccoli, strawberries and cauliflower. Meanwhile, good sources of Vitamin E are eggs, peanuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds.

Having a good diet and taking supplements won’t help much if you compromise your eye health by spending too much time in the sun or smoking. Of course, nothing beats a well-balanced diet, but you might want to consider taking supplements to help ensure you’re giving your eyes all the nutrition they need.

Spectacular Scandinavia

The above photographs were taken by my father who travelled to Scandinavia countries recently. I 've no idea how I'd feel about traveling around all those magnificent places by myself. It's rather difficult to find places as pristine as this. I felt so sorry for what we are doing to our Earth.

Firefox 3 Download - A Huge Success

I know plenty of people will be rushing to download a copy of the final version of Firefox 3 on Tuesday when it’s released.
The Mozilla servers crashed as most Firefoxers all determined to be one of the first to experience the latest version of their favourite browser. They seem to be back online now after some early hiccups.

Still, Mozilla managed to break the world records for software downloads in 24 hours, and it looks like Firefox 3 is going to be highly popular. It has tons of new features with 15,000 improvements, plus it runs faster and provides a safer browsing environment.

I bet there are a lot of Firefox lovers out there, but I am not one of those, believe me! I see Firefox as a very good browser, but I always encounter problems, so I never fell in love with it. But only time will tell, because changing your primary browser is not something to do over night. It'll be interesting to see how the reception of Firefox 3 grows as more users experience its new features. I'm sure Firefox 3 should really become much better than any browser in the wild!
Well done, Mozilla!

Lipstick Increases Breast Cancer Risk

There you have it ladies, too much of anything is always bad. It is sometimes terrifying when you look at it, how the very things we often take for granted can be later proven to be harmful. A study has shown that a chemical found in lipstick and nail varnish could trigger breast cancer. Butyl benzyl phthalate(BBP) is most likely to be used in the cosmetics industry to make products glossy.

In 2007, an environmentalist group, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics did a survey on lipsticks. They tested 33 different types of lipsticks for lead and found out they indeed contain lead. Lead is a chemical which causes cancer....

Many lipstick makers don't provide you with the list of ingredients that they use- but many renowned brands, including Vaseline, use toxic, drying ingredients in their lipsticks. In a lifetime, the average woman absorbs 2lb of lipstick! However, there are many safe lipsticks out there, so find out what you're applying.

I’m one of those women who apply a lip stick almost daily and obviously I'm not alone. The good news is that I don't put nail polish but now I am a bit hesitant when I buy lipsticks as I am concern about what it entails. It could be your worst health enemy.

The World of Blogosphere

With the numerous blogs that hit well in the 6 digit mark or more, I often wonder what makes a small few, like me stand out from the crowd, and outshine on the blogosphere. Gee, only god knows! It goes without saying that many bloggers dream of starting a blog that will become as successful as some of the most popular blogs online today.

I don’t blog for a living. I find it rather difficult and time consuming to make money from blogging. Then again, I don't expect to make a fortune overnight. However, no matter how superb your content is, if there is nobody to read it, you can't generate profit from it. I don’t reckon myself as an entertainer, and most of what I post on my blog isn’t entertaining in any straightforward sense, so I doubt that many people come here for this reason. But I might be wrong. Different people have different preferences. There are some topics that suit among many other people as well.

I have a full time job, and I only blog in my spare time about my thoughts, interesting events, current issues, vice versa. I will usually brag about something that I'm familiar with. I guess there are also people for whom blogging has turned into an obsession instead of being a harmless hobby.

At times I wonder, what would you do if Blogging all of a sudden comes to an end?? Say all the blog hosting sites shut down and we could blog no more?

To Fathers With Love

Father 's Day is a great time of year to celebrate how wonderful dad has been for all of these years. Obviously, father’s day may not get the same amount of attention as Mother’s Day. Let's face it, men are not into flowers and perfume and it's always so much harder to shop for them. I'm still cracking my head over what to get this Father's Day. I guess one of the best things you can do for dads this Sunday is to fill up the gas tanks of their cars.

Even though I don’t think my dad reads this, there’s some stuff I want him to know. So Dad, if you do see this…I’m sorry I didn’t appreciate you more when I was younger. I’ve never been especially close to him. Infact, I used to avoid seeing him as much as possible when I was a kid. Perhaps it has gotta be his moodiness. When he gets genuinely mad about something, his moods turn sour so quickly. Believe me, nobody wants to be around him. My dad’s eyes would even change colors with his moods. When I recalled those moments, it's pretty terrifying. It’s so funny how the way I view …my dad in particular…As I’ve gotten older, I now appreciate all of the things that he has done for me and all that he has sacrificed to make me the person I am.

So, daughters, sons, don't ever hold a grudge against your father, love him, respect him, pray for him, and pray with him, and he will be the best dad you ever had! Happy Father's Day to all father figures out there!

My Timeless Gift- Another Blissfully Day

My hubby came home from a business trip to U.S a few days ago. When he comes home, he usually shower me with gifts. My dear hubby bought me a Fossil watch from New York and I'm totally in cloud 9. You will probably agree that a watch is a very important thing in defining anyone's style. Have to handle this ornament with good care coz I tend to be so clumsy at times and damage my watches hehe..

Polished, silver bracelet watch with fancyful case

Perfect for everyday wear

I am not a big "fussy" person, so I don't like a lot of frilly things, but this is nice and simple, and this timepiece speaks about my style and taste.

Hoohoohoo! Looks pretty cool on my wrist
